If you grew up on the live-action Harryhausen Sinbad movies then you'll like this animated adventure from Dreamworks. Here, Sinbad (voice of Brad Pitt) and his shipmates are thieves, trying to steal 'The Book of Peace' from the city of Syracuse so that they can ask for a hefty ransom and retire to the Fiji islands. But there's an evil Goddess (voice of Michelle Pfeiffer) who steals the book and frames Sinbad for the crime.Sinbad is reunited with an old childhood friend, Proteus, who just happens to be the prince of the city. Proteus believes his friend's innocence -and volunteers to wait in prison as proxy until Sinbad returns with the book. If he fails to return with the book then Proteus will be killed in his stead. Also on board the adventure is Proteus' fiancee, Marina (voice of Catherine Zeta-Jones), who has longed for adventure her entire life. She becomes closer and closer to Sinbad. They encounter a giant, island-sized fish, sirens, a huge ice-bird, cyclops and travel to the edge of the world (which turns out to be flat after all). It's a fun movie.
