"Some Guy Who Kills People" is only partially about what the title promises. There are only a few gory killings and a murder-mystery type of ending, but the majority of the film is an indie-loser-drama-comedy.
Seems like a lonely introvert is killing off members of his high school basket ball team who kicked his ass once. He was just released from the loony bin after having an emotional break down and attempting suicide and now lives with his sarcastic, passive aggressive mother while working at an ice cream shop. He's accidentally reunited with his eleven year old daughter who hadn't known who he was since his ex-girlfriend sent him walking after she first got pregnant...
That's pretty much what the bulk of the movie is. He and his daughter trying to bond despite the turmoil from his past. All of the death scenes are really quick and barely seem that important to the film, which mostly wants to be a "nice" drama about a socially awkward man coming to terms with himself and blah blah blah... And his daughter trying to earn his affection blah blah blah... The performances are all really empty and one dimensional. The only half-way entertaining character was the sheriff. Karen Black pops up here and there, but does very little besides act like a bitch.
"Some Guy Who Kills People" is a disjointed, boring 'dramedy' with a misleading title. For a much better flick of this sort, check out James Gunn's "Super".
