This adaptation of the famous cartoon starts off slowly at first but builds up speed during the first hour. Once the action gets going you're off for a fun ride.
First, it's amazing how everyone looks like they're supposed to, from John Goodman as "Pops" to Emile Hirsch as Speed and Christina Ricc as Trixie. The one character I don't remember from the cartoon, is "Mom", who is much needed to the movie's storyline/emotional impact. And the big question as to if "Racer X" is Speed's thought-to-be-dead brother, Rex, is answered in a good way. The movie takes place in this "other world" and is cartoonish, which is little off-putting at first, but it works well in terms of the many crazy car races and special effects.
This is a fun Summer movie. Speed to the movie theater.
