This is one of the most impressive fan films I've seen, reuniting many of the actors from the multiple Star Trek series. In this feature-length movie Captain John Harriman (Alan Ruck), Pavel Chekov and Uhura are aboard the Enterprise, 12 years after the death of Captain Kirk. They are visited by Charlie Evans, who the original crew encountered over fifty years before. He's angry that he was never able to confront Kirk about leaving him with the aliens and is now taking out his anger. So he goes to the planet where the Guardian is Forever is, goes back in time and prevents Kirk from being born. As soon as he does this the three main characters are thrust into a parallel universe that is governed by a militaristic organization ruled by Gary Mitchell, who now has Godlike powers. Because Kirk was never born Kirk was never able to stop him. Uhura now lives on Vulcan, is married to a Vulcan and has a family. Harriman still captains the Enterprise, but is an evil version of himself. And Chekov is a hell-bent freedom fighter.
This is extremely ambitious and has appearances by Tim Russ, who reprises his role as Tuvok and also directs, Garrett Wang, Ethan Philips, J.G. Hertzler, Cirroc Lofton and Chase Masterson as a really hot Orion Slave girl. What I enjoyed best about it was seeing the Harriman character, who is a lot more fleshed out than his appearance in STAR TREK: GENERATIONS. He's come a long way.
While the interior sets and the planet scapes are along the lines of the original series, complete with all those primary colors, the CGI effects are impressive, particularly when they show all the different alien ships battling one another. And there's a cataclysmic event that happens that also happens in J.J. Abram's recent STAR TREK movie, which can't be a total coincidence.
