Well, it's finally here, the last installment of the STAR WARS saga. The questions of why Anakin turned to the darkside, how the Jedi were killed and how the Empire arises, and why Obi Wan and Yoda put themselves in exile are all answered. There's also tons of excellent effects and an ending that ties directly to the beginning of part IV: A NEW HOPE, which I thought was cool. The emphasis of the story is on the relationship between Anakin Skywalker (Hayden Christensen) and Padme (Natalie Portman), which is integral to the creation of 'Darth Vader'. But the main thing I wanted to see was the battle between Obi Wan and Vader, which is what these first three movies have ultimately led up to. Rest assured, it's not a disappointment-and, in fact, a bit more brutal than I thought it might be. What happens to Anakin is truly horrible and has the most emotional resonance of the entire picture. This third movie is much better than the previous two, though I found it didn't have quite the 'Wow' factor given by the first STAR WARS movie. I suppose the twenty-six years since seeing that first movie has jaded me a bit-and I'm also more of a STAR TREK than a STAR WARS fan. Nevertheless, Lucas has managed to pull it off. This movie puts it all together.
