First, the things I liked about this movie: A rebellious Storm Trooper is one of the main characters, there's a new robot and there's a decent bad-guy with the grandson of Darth Vader. What I didn't like: Nothing has changed from the events after episode V? In fact, the Rebellion may be even worse off now. There's a "new" weapon that's basically a hyped up Deathstar. And it's painful seeing the original characters, so much so, in fact, that I had little reaction to what ends up happening to Han Solo. All the original characters, including Chewbacca, seem so damn miserable. The new people seem aimless.
I'm not a big STAR WARS fan but I did enjoy the first three original films. In fact, I don't think anything can really top, from a movie-going experience, of seeing the first film in a theater when I was thirteen years old. I liked EMPIRE, though not as much, and the stupid Ewoks ruined RETURN for me. While this new movie has great special effects it's a downer. There's nothing fun or exciting about the experience.Yes, there's some humorous dialogue moments that are a bit out of place but overall the movie is surprisingly flat. I did not care about the events or characters in this film, STAR WARS: THE FORCE ALMOST PUT ME SLEEP.
