Sub-par space adventure series which is actually an 'Americanized' version of the New Zealand shot series STARHUNTER 2176.Bounty hunter Dante Montana (Michael Pare), is the captain of the starship Tulip. He's searching for his son, who was kidnapped by a group called Raiders ten years before. The Raiders seem to be the equivalent of space pirates. Also on board the ship are his niece Percy (a TERRIBLE actress here) and a security person Lou (an African-Earth woman), who has a secret agenda. Her agenda is to report any information about the 'Divinity Cluster' to her father, who works for a government organization. The Cluster is a series of chromosomes in human DNA that were planted by aliens long ago and serve some mysterious purpose, perhaps leading to the next step in mankind's evolution. In the opening episode the villain has tapped into this and is able to do physically impossible things, such as float in the air.The special effects, all computer generated, are good and presumably taken from the original series. The interior sets, however, appear extremely cheap and flimsy. And for the Tulip being such a large ship (could hold 500 people), its interior looks small and cramped. One of the main set pieces is the jail on board the ship-which is a metal barred cage, which we see far too often.Only a few of the 8 episodes on this DVD are worth a look, the others far too boring.
