An actress (Alex Essoe), who works as a waitress to pay the bills (of course), auditions for a movie called The Silver Scream. She blows the audition, rushes out and has a tantrum, where she pulls out her hair. One of the casting people sees this and calls her back in the room. They want her to "be herself" and have another outburst, to show the part of herself that she keeps hidden from others. She complies--and then they want her to meet the film's producer. He's a weirdo. As he tells her that this will be a breakout role and she'll be on posters he sticks his hand up her skirt. She freaks out and leaves. She goes back to the diner she recently quit and begs for her job back and soon realizes she made a mistake. So she calls the film people up and arranges for another meeting with the producer. After she arrives at his mansion he asks if she'd give up her eyes--her body--for their vision. She answers "Yes" an he says "Show me". At this point we see the pentagram scar on the back of his hand. There's a weird jumble of images and she wakes up the next morning in her apartment, feeling sick, with dried lips and a red nose that looks infected. She messes up at the diner, alienates her friends with outbursts about how they've been holding her back--and physically deteriorates more. It's as if she has radiation poisoning--losing her hair and her fingernails. The last twenty minutes are the payoff to all this weirdness. You will not be disappointed--it's overly violent, gory and unpredictable.
So far, this is the best horror movie of 2015. It reminds me of ROSEMARY'S BABY crossed with FROM BEYOND. Highly recommended.
