This is a "What if" story, in which Lex Luthor (voice of Clancy Brown) is elected President of the United States. He puts superheroes on the payroll, such as Captain Adam, Major Force, Black Lightning and Power Girl. But Superman will have nothing to do with Luthor. He believes his oldest enemy is up to something bad.
However, Superman agrees to meet Luthor to discuss the threat of a huge meteor hitting the earth. It's all a ruse. Everything goes awry at the meeting primarily because Luthor has brought Metallo as a body guard. Superman is defeated when a piece of the kryptonite that powers Metallo gets lodged in his chest. Batman rescues him and takes him back to the BatCave via an underground sewer system. However, Luthor has videotaped that event and re-edits it to make Superman look like an insane villain. He gives a televised presidential address which shows Supes killing the robot man in cold blood. He tells the American public that the radiation from the big hunk of kryptonite that is nearing the Earth is affecting Superman and making him crazy. He places a billion dollar bounty on the Son of Krypton. Of course, every villain then goes after him.
Superman and Batman want to find a way to prevent the green meteor from hitting the Earth while Luthor destroys it to destroy much of the population so he can rebuild the world in his image.
This is an interesting followup to the Superman, Batman and JLA animated series, all which featured the voice talents of Tim Daly (SUPERMAN), Kevin Conroy (BATMAN) and Clancy Brown (Lex Luthor). My only problem is that the running time is only 65 minutes, perhaps the shortest of these animated features.
