This is one of those movies you try to convince yourself that is better than it actually is, particularly if you're a fan of the comic book source material. Ray Wise (The father in TWIN PEAKS series, DEAD END) portrays an over enthusiastic Dr. Alec Holland, who is contaminated by an experimental plant growth formula and resurrects as 'The Swamp Thing'. Adrienne Barbeau is Cable (though this character was a man in the comic), and Louis Jourdan portrays a wimpy Anton Arcane, not at all like the malevolent character in the comic. The Swamp Thing costume is decent enough but the monster that Arcane transforms into looks like a reject from the 1978 ISLAND OF DR. MOREAU. If you haven't seen this movie in a long time and feel like re-watching it, don't. Your memory of it is far better. Perhaps director Wes Craven's weakest movie.
