This seventh, and last, season of TALES FROM THE CRYPT seems a bit cheaper in production value than the previous seasons. All of the stories take place in England.
The first episode, FATAL CAPER, is about three rich brothers and their inheritance from their father, who dies mysteriously. Natasha Richardson is the lawyer who has a big secret. There's a continuation of "The Monkey's Paw" story with LAST RESPECTS, in which three quarreling sisters own a magic shop. Of course, one of them makes a wish she wants to undo, with disastrous results. A SLIGHT CASE OF MURDER turns the tables on a bestselling mystery writer who is surprised by her "biggest fan". In ESCAPE, a German soldier tries to escape during the war and is double-crossed. HORROR IN THE NIGHT has a criminal, who is double crossed during a jewelry store heist, take refuge in a familiar old hotel. There, he has bloody nightmares and comes across familiar faces he can't place, until it's far too late. One of my favorite episodes is COLD WAR, which has Ewan McGregor (STAR WARS) and his girlfriend as "Bonnie & Clyde" type characters who turn out to be not-quite-human. Another is ABOUT FACE, in which a sixteen-year-old girl (Anna Friel of LAND OF THE LOST) shows up at a Reverend's doorstep, claiming to be his daughter. However, she is a twin and the twin is pissed.
The worst episode, of the season (and maybe the whole show) is an animated version of the story of "The Three Pigs".
