Here's a modern sci-fi classic and definitely one of Arnold's best roles. The governor kicks some major ass in this flick. If your name was Sarah Conner, your ass was dead meat in Terminator! The plot is simple for a sci-fi actioner, with Arnold playing a cyborg from the future sent back to the past to kill the mother of a not yet born man that will help save the nearly wiped out human race from the now omnipotent machines of the future after a nuclear war. Another dude from the future comes back to try and stop the Terminator and actually knocks up Linda Hamilton with the future's savior. Simple, just like I said, right? Not sure about the whole fathering the child scenario, but aside from that, all the rest of this movie works well. Great FX, great action, and tons of fun lines to laugh at years later help The Terminator stands the test of time. I'm sure Arnold will be remembered for this more than his political career when all is said and done. The eyeball in the sink scene is classic. Linda's lookin' better than she did in Beauty and the Beast and it's fun to watch her go from disbelieving shy waitress to tough cookie by movie's end. Seeing Arnold turn to robot, gradually losing flesh as the film moves on is a hoot also. The robot itself gives relentless a whole new meaning as this thing won't quit, even when reduced to just a torso. Sarah Conner has to finally make a Terminator pancake before it dies. Two good sequels followed in which Arnold plays a good guy, but I kinda like him here as the villain. Ever play the Terminator drinking game? You take a drink every time someone says Sarah or Sarah Conner.
