Isabella Larson (Marita Geraghty) is recently married to new doctor Garth and also pregnant. They move to his home town in rural New Mexico where the people are strange. His creepy old father (Anthony Zerbe of OMEGA MAN) keeps hitting on her and she spies his mother practicing some weird religion in the shed. Even the town's only doctor is sinister. There are also strange tribal masks and totems all about and she calls up her old Professor friend (the late great Spalding Gray), who tells her they may be shape-shifters or worshippers of evil.
Isabella goes into labor and when she wakes up her husband tells her that her child was born dead-- but she saw her boy being born alive. It turns out that the community has her son marked to be their new leader and are going to give him to another couple to raise. Before they are able to brand him she manages to steal him away. She's helped by a local Native American and in the end drives off with her kid, hoping to get away from the people who are so intent with getting her child.
This made-for-television movie is definitely a re-working of ROSEMARY'S BABY and has similar plot-points and is worth seeing only for Zerbe's performance. He is great at portraying a villain.
