Here it is - the best Summer Movie of 2007. After all these years, after all the hype, a TRANSFORMERS live-action movie finally makes it to the screen--and it delivers the goods.
The premise is that the All Spark cube, which can create life from nothing, has been lost somewhere on Earth and the Autobots and Decepticons are after it. The Decepticons, led by the evil Megatron, want it to destroy all life on Earth and the Autobots want it to restore life to their destroyed world.
The movie begins with a teenager named Sam who gets his first car, a beat-up yellow Camaro, which turns out to be one of the Transformers, named Bumblebee. It's not by chance that the living robots have found him, because he holds the key as to where the All Spark is located. There's also a girl named Mikaela who gets sucked into the adventure - and she's the potential love-interest of nerdy Sam.
The special effects are amazing, particularly the Decepticons that transform into aircraft.
The story is also solid and you care what happens to the characters, which is always a plus. The only thing negative I have to say is that it's about twenty-minutes too long...maybe one or two too many car/truck/helicopter chases. Otherwise, check it out. TRANSFORMERS is an epic movie.
