ADVENTURES OF YOUNG INDIANA JONES: TREASURE OF THE PEACOCK'S EYE - Volume 18We find Indy back in the trenches just as WWI is to end. An old looking treasure map is found on a murdered man-and Indy and his friend Remy embark on trying to find the Peacock's eye, a huge diamond. His friend is very enthusiastic about the whole adventure but Indy just goes along because he is the guy's friend. He doesn't desire riches or fortune. They eventually find the temple in India where it is supposed to be hidden-and in a secret compartment find a metal box, which can't be opened. A German shows up, however, and takes it from them. They follow him aboard a ship, make friends with a young woman who is also after the jewel (She's the German's partner) and are hijacked by pirates. The pirates take everything on the ship, including their boxed in treasure.Well, Remy doesn't want to give up that easily so they get in one of the smaller lifeboats and paddle after the pirate ship, which eventually lands on an island of cannibals. They barely make their escape -and come across another island, where a British anthropologist is studying the natives. After talking great length with this man, Indy comes to the conclusion that he has to pursue his own dream, not his friend's, and decides to head back to the States to make peace with his father and go to college to become an archeologist. This tale foreshadows all those adventures would have later in life.
