My biggest worry about this new show was how they'd be able to pull off TREMORS in weekly installments without it getting repetitious-and after viewing the first two hour episodes I think they may have solved that problem. In the first episode we're introduced to the characters of Perfection, Nevada, a few of which have survived the movies (like survivalist Burt Gummer). He rescues a young man from being eaten by 'El Blanco', the last surviving Graboid (50 foot man-eating Pre-Cambrian worm), who is now a protected species by the United States Government. The residents of Perfection are allowed to live in their town as long as they can prove El Blanco isn't a threat-and they're restricted from harming the monster by Federal Law. So it's a precarious existence. In the opening hour, 'El Blanco' is on a rampage, which is due to someone stimulating it's hunger with radio waves, in hopes of driving the townspeople out of town so developers can put up a mall. In the second episodes we're introduced to a scientist (Christopher Lloyd) who used to work at a secret, hidden government agency in Perfection that did biological experiments. And one of those experiments involved a device called 'Mix Master', which is able to combine DNA from different animal species and the bacteria monster in this second episode was created by that. I'm sure that 'Mix Master' will be used to create a lot of the other monsters in the show, using it like BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER uses 'The Hellmouth' to explain all the supernatural activity in Sunnydale. So far so good....
