Oh man, not sure how I missed this one in my quest for cool movies that echo the style or play tribute to 1972's LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT, but this one was an ultra-cool fun and wild little rape revenge thriller from the mid-'70's. Basically, out in the California desert, a busload of young hotties and their MILF Teacher (including hot mama Cathy Worthington) break down on a field trip. Three biker dudes, two that are psychos just out of jail, one a straight arrow dude just tagging along...offer to "help" the stranded babes and we know what happens from there! Lead baddie Al (essayed by softcore directing legend Zalman King, R.I.P.) really channels David A. Hess from LAST HOUSE here, commanding the screen and going full-on bonkers. Early in the movie, he kills a gas jockey that dares to talk down at him and spill gas on his "ride" and when the school bus driver gets out of line, he kicks him down on the ground and runs over his head with his bike! King just oozes chic cool psycho glee in this over-the-top performance, obviously relishing every moment he has on screen, completely chewing up the scenery, grabbing the girl's breasts, making lewd faces at 'em and rending their clothes to shreds with his bare hands when he attacks! He's actually a dead-ringer for a young Trent Reznor (from NIN) in this part and this just adds to the surreal madness of it all. Taking the girls to an abandoned cabin, sporting giant fly-eyed sunglasses, King rips their clothes off and has his way with as many as he can (R-rated '70's style with plenty of nice breast and ass shots!) before the inevitable "escape plans" develop between the group and we get lots of cool chaseouts in the woods and even a spectacular little motorcycle chase that ends with a jarring stunt. Logic and common sense take a back seat to teasing '70's tarts, cheap violence, and exploitation elements, exactly as it should be! King also adds a lot of weird quirks into his character---including a creepy snort that really scarier and scarier as things progress and bizarre spasmodic seizures that are never quite explained. All in all, he makes being a '70's baddie fun and of course...he gets what he deserves in the end for his malicious, amoral behavior! Wouldn't have it any other way, you know? TRIP WITH THE TEACHER is a classic, underrated gem if you're into this style of slimy filmmaking (and I ooze with it, baby!), so if you worship at the altar of Wes Craven's LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT , I think you'll have a really good time with this movie. It's got a nice '70's hippie/biker vibe, two crazy brothers that kind of mimic the Krueg/Junior relationship in LAST HOUSE, plenty of fresh, foxy, REAL looking ladies willing to get their shirts and dresses ripped off to bare those freckly, curvaceous '70's bods for you (damn, I wish today's Hooter's waitresses looked HALF as good as these fine babes!), and a lead psycho amped up to the max by the great Zalman King! This movie is retro bad-ass and super memorable! Seek it out and give it try today!
