This Australian movie is a cross between the alien and zombie genres, mostly played for laughs.At the start of the movie part of a comet breaks off and heads towards Earth, where the many meteors crash near a small town. In fact, a few of the hurtling rocks punch through people, immediately transforming them into zombies. A group of six survivors hole up in a farmhouse owned by a reclusive fisherman. He claims to know that this is all being caused by aliens. In a flashback we see him fishing in his boat when his pile of caught fish is struck by a meteor. They come to 'life' and start attacking him. In the midst of this a huge flying ship appears overhead and washes him with rain. Did they cause it or are they trying to cure it?This is a quirky movie with a lot of extremely gory special effects, such as a pair of legs walking around with half a spine sticking out of them. Although UNDEAD isn't a great movie it does stand out from the onslaught of recent zombie movies lumbering onto the video store shelves.
