Contrary to everything I've heard about this Tom Cruise film--this is a great movie! From the advertisements on television it made it seem as if this was a FATAL ATTRACTION type thriller. In truth, it's more like JACOB'S LADDER with a science-fiction twist. Cruise portrays a playboy who has inherited his father's mega-million dollar publishing company, but he's aimless and careless about the people he interacts with. One of them is Cameron Diaz, who he thinks of as a 'fuck buddy' but she is deeply in love with him. When he starts ignoring her she goes psycho and starts to stalk him. When he falls in love with a hispanic women he meets at a party she really flips out--and tries to commit suicide by crashing her car. The only problem is that Cruise is in the vehicle with her. We then cut to him in jail, wearing a mask--and it's implied he has killed someone. The linear format of the movie changes and we go back and forth in time (not sure if it's forward or backward) as we try to figure out what's going on? Is he being blamed for her death, did he kill her, is he being framed? Or is it something so completely different he can't even imagine the explaination? Check this movie out!
