The movie begins with a young woman being possessed by an evil spirit then goes to a flashback of how it all happened. Angela is a young woman living with her boyfriend. Her military father (Dougray Scott) returns home and surprises her for her birthday. Then, she cuts herself with a knife and weird things begin to happen, such as a raven biting her wounded finger. She ends up in the hospital after intentionally crashing a taxi cab. She acts crazy and so has to see the psychiatrist who thinks her odd behavior may be because of the prescribed medication. When the hospital is unable to help in comes Father Lozano (Michael Pena), who eventually gets a higher up Catholic priest to perform an exorcism on her. Things unfold exactly how you think they will-and the surprise ending isn't exactly a big surprise.
Possession movies are a big sub-genre of horror films, which always makes me scratch my head when current movies continue to re-hash what have become stereotypical scenes. If you've never seen the EXORCIST or any other demon possession movie then you may enjoy this. Otherwise, just re-watch the William Freidkin classic.
