Kevin Lindenmuth's Brimstone Media Productions, once obsessed with vampires and aliens, is now on a werewolf kick.WEREWOLF TALES, divided by three seperate storylines and essayed by different filmmakers, takes the theme of 'men whose lives are changed by the caprice of lycanthropy.'The first segment, by Ron Ford, is a campy and hilarious bit that could be called 'The Godfather Meets The Werewolf.' A greedy mob boss steals a cursed ring that isn't his and pays the price with an unexpected transformation in the middle of a 'goodfellas' meeting. The end results were satisfying, and the segment is full of colorful characters and wit.The second segment, essayed by John (THE EVILMAKER) Bowker, tells the tale of a meek computer worker who tries on the power of a werewolf for size and decides he doesn't like what it ultimately entails: killing even his friends. Fast-paced with ample gore and fun twists, this piece was a lot of fun to watch. Great to see some of the EVILMAKER cast together again! The last short, directed by Joe Sherlock, is a mini mad scientist piece involving a secret formula that may or may not deliver what he thinks it will. It ultimately does, but not in the way he (or the audience) expects. Another nice twist ending with this one, though the segment was a little talky. All in all, WEREWOLF TALES fills a fine void that great cancelled shows like TALES FROM THE DARKSIDE left. There's decent special effects, nice pacing, dark humor, and obviously a lot of fun and passion happening behind the cameras for the filmmakers and actors, which ultimately translates into a good watch for the viewer. So if werewolfs are your bag, check this movie out! Also, there's some great music on this flick. The band 'Mesmerize' could very well be the next 'Helloween.' Keep an ear tuned on them!
