Actress Julie Sawyer (Christy McNichol) accidently hits a white German Shepard while driving and after she takes him the vet she brings him home. However, she soon learns that the dog has been conditioned to attack black people when her pet attacks an actress on set.
Not wanting to have her dog killed, she takes it to an animal trainer by the name of Keys (Paul Winfield), who is determined to "uncondition" the canine so that it no longer attacks people with his skin tone. Least to say, things don't go quite as planned.
There are some scenes with the dog ripping apart a few people but those scenes where the dog looks like he's snarling you can definitely tell there's something in its mouth to show those fangs.
I found the movie dated and overly preachy about racism, and McNichol is horribly cast as the lead. There's also no chemistry between her and the dog whatsoever, which is a problem since the gist of the story is her connection to her new pet.
I heard a lot of hype about this movie when it first came out, but don't believe the hype. WHITE DOG is the worst Sam Fuller movie I've seen.
