This is a vastly inferior remake by director Neal LaBute (The Company of Men), almost so bad that it works as a comedy. The big mistake was making it about an island of amazons rather than sticking closer to the source material. Nicholas Cage's performance is perhaps the worst of his career, to such an extent that you get impatient waiting for him to finally get killed.
This is almost as bad as the recent remake of THE FOG.
