"Women's Prison Massacre" may start out like your typical women-in-prison flick (soapy showers, cat fights, butch female guards abusing their authority), but it takes an alarmingly awesome turn early on that had me really loving this thing. Laura Gemser (the ravishing Black Emanuelle for those of you who don't know) is doing 5 years for a wrongful drug charge and is caught up in a hostage situation when a group of male convicts gain the upper hand of their corrupt 'lady' prison... These guys pick up where the abusive prison staff left off - smacking these sassy vixens around, engaging them in sex that is both consensual and non, depending on the woman, and gunning down any police interference.
The film starts with some dramatic stage monologues about prison life followed by Emanuelle being scolded, basically for her feminine intensity. You go girl! I hear you roar! It is then apparent that Emanuelle and a fellow inmate are contending in an aggressive feud that ends up taking place in the 'wash room'. All of this is unexpectedly thrown to the way-side after a girl-on-girl make-out session and a nice introduction to something I like to call "sink torture". The gang of male hostage-takers - most of whom have pending death sentences for murder - make their screen time count, acting unmercifully sadistic and loony. For example, a man cuts a woman's throat with a razor between his teeth. Also, we have a notable scene involving Russian Roulette, showing a wad of brains blowing directly into Gabriele Tinti's mouth, followed by him angrily calling her a "slut", which was hilarious! Another, crazy-eyed bastard fucks a chick who had, just priorly and strategically, inserted his own razor-blade in a place where it is SURE to hit it's mark... Gemser is a total babe, as usual. Would've been nice to see some more skin from her, but what're you gonna do? This isn't really a T&A flick, but a more vehement take on the women-in-prison 'exploitation' genre.
