X2 takes all the best elements from the first film and amplifies them for a longer, somewhat better film if you ask me. I really liked the opening sequence with Nighcrawler and they did a decent job with his character. Wolverine finally gets to cut loose, putting a deadly hurtin' on a whole bunch of military dicks that invade the X-mansion. He still looks a little too tall and skinny in my opinion, but I liked the persona better here than in one. Really, X-Men 2 lets all the characters have a chance to show their powers in full form. Magneto's grenade pin pulling scene in particular gives not only a glimpse of his real power, but shows you how he feels when it comes to mutant/human relations. He gives the X-Men a hand here, but he never looses sight of his own goals and agenda. I loved his escape scene! Honestly, all the 'mean' mutants kinda impressed me more in this one. Mystique trying to seduce Wolverine by playing a little trick on him by posing as Jean Grey is funny and added a more adult element to the movie. The younger mutants get a chance to help a little and there are a couple of cool cameos such as Colossus and Beast (in human form). The plot here I thought was better than the original's, this seemed more like the book to me. Still, I just can't seem to totally accept these X-Men as 'my' X-Men. It never quite feels like the comic to me. Guess it never will, but part two was a lot of fun and it's getting closer, if not perfect.
