William Stanaforth (Mark Strong) is a lone astronaut/scientist sent on a mission to Mars. He seems disillusioned with Earth and wants to see if his invention, a way to create water from soil, will work on the Red Planet. The only person he really talks to is Louis (Luke Wilson), back at base. There is also some interaction with a woman astronaut (Sanaa Lathan), who is on another ship. At first he keeps himself busy, then he messes something up and must ration out his drinkable water for the remainder of the trip, which is difficult. But because he's a really unlikable character I didn't give a crap. If you want an extremely boring version of THE MARTIAN this will rock your world.
