This new horror movie has an interesting beginning. Twenty-five years ago something attacked a young girl and took one of her eyes before she was able to escape. In the present day a man and his young son, Lucas, move into that girl's house and soon begin to encounter that same creature, which looks like a cross between Jason from FRIDAY THE 13th and Smeegle from the LORD OF THE RINGS movies. The daughter of the local sheriff, Helen, babysits for the boy and he goes missing, abducted by this strange monster. We find out that the girl with the one eye is now in the area, after being in a mental institution for years, and seeks revenge. Helen feels responsible for the loss of the boy and does everything she can to find him, which leads to a bloody finale. Oh, and the monster's existence is explained by the story of "The Black Swan", which takes the lives of children mistreated by their parents.
Well, this all sounds like a great idea for a horror movie. The execution, though, is terrible, from the cliche-ridden script to the mediocre actors to the complete rip-off of the monster from THE JEEPERS CREEPERS films. Every five minutes I was reminded of all the much better movies this one copies. NOT recommended.
