This graphic novel begins with an archeologist discovering an underground temple filled with the remains of what appear to be giants. Another guy shows up with his henchmen and kills him. Then, a woman who is hiking in the mountains with her boyfriend get exposed to some type of greenish gas, which transforms her into a human-sized Ymir-like creature when she on an airplane. She goes on a rampage and the plane crashes. This is all seen three hours before it happens by a psychic girl being studied by the government. More people become infected and transform into creatures.
We're shown what happened in 1957, when a spaceship was sent to Venus and they find ruins that look like those of ancient Greece. They go inside one of the buildings and there's a bunch of mini-Ymirs. When the ship crash lands back on earth one of them survives and is the monster from that Ray Harryhausen movie. We find out that they used to be intelligent but devolved over time. Now they are awakened and want to take over Earth.
While I liked some of the other Ray Harryhausen comic book sequels I didn't enjoy this one so much. It sort of undoes the "Monster on the loose" fun of the original movie.
