These three stories all take place in the "30 DAYS OF NIGHT" universe. The first is about Alaskan John Ikos, who finds the frozen corpse of a vampire and unwisely brings it back his cabin. He figures he can send it, or at least pieces of it, to the government to be studied, considering what happened in nearby Barrow. However, the vampire wakes up. Ikos shoots him but the vampire doesn't want to kill him-- he says he "owes him one" for not leaving him outside, frozen.
The next story has Ikos in L.A. He wants to hunt down this vampire who got away and ends up encountering many more of them. This is The Night Crew, an organized group of bloodsuckers who want to destroy all humans or turn them all into slaves, like cattle. He comes across a guy who was recently turned into a vampire--and he says someone named Saxon is doing experiments. This is Dr. Saxon, who will later appear in a few more 30 DAYS OF NIGHTS tales. This was okay, though I didn't really like that the leader of the vampire group looks just like the vampire in Nosferatu. Not too original there.
My favorite story is the last and longest, DEAD SPACE, in which an astronaut is bitten by a vampire the night before his shuttle mission--and turns into a vampire in space where he attacks the other crew members. Unfortunately for them there's not a lot of places to hide....
