This graphic novel opens in the capital of the Kree Homeworld. A woman warrior, Tanalth the Pursuer wants to go to earth to retrieve a weapon called "The God's Whisper". In a brief recap we see that The Sub Mariner, the original human Torch and Bucky had aquired it during WWII but were unable to destroy it-so they broke it apart in pieces and hid it, then erased their memories. When Tanalth goes to earth in present day she finds Jim Hammond, aka the Torch, first, where he's been living a quiet life in a new town. That's now destroyed. Just when he's almost defeated Captain America and Bucky, now The Winter Soldier, show up. There's a battle and half the down is destroyed. We learn the Sub-Mariner had been captured by Tanalth and taken to the Kree Homeworld. So the remaining trio of the group have to get there-and do so through the help of the original Vision. They find Namor-but have to battle the Eternal, Ikarus, who Tanalth now controls. Least to say, there's a lot of action.
I was never a big fan of The Invaders comic back in the 70's but this is a great current update. It makes sense since all the original heroes have survived, through various ways, to the present day. Captain America was frozen, the Torch is an android, Namor ages more slowly than humans and Buck was frozen and turned into the Winter Soldier. Recommended.
