The vampirism continues to change Bruce Wayne in this "Elseworlds" story, so that the blood supplement he takes is having less and less an effect and he begins craving real blood. The Joker shows up in town and takes over a surviving vampire nest. But instead of the homeless he decides to go after higher profile prey, like the crime bosses of the city. And although the Joker leads them he doesn't become a vampire himself.
Batman seeks to find a cure for his hunger and learns from an old woman that "The Love of an selfless woman" easing the compulsion. This comes in the form of Selina Kyle, who has been bitten by a supernatural creature and turns into a were-cat when the moon is full. She wants revenge on the monster responsible for transforming her. However, things don't go as ideally planned and there's a final confrontation between The Batman and The Joker.
This is a natural progression from the first graphic novel, RED RAIN.
