This new Battlestar Galactica adventure takes place in the first year of the series, when Roslin is still dying of cancer and the Cylon Boomer hasn't had her baby yet.
Near where they are harvesting algae to replenish food supplies, a human is found in a Colonial escape pod - and it happens to be Peter Attis, who was a famous rock-and-roll type singer. Captain Adama and others believe he may be a Cylon or part of a Cylon plan. And they're right. He's carrying with him - and spreading - a neurological disease that attacks the brain, a disease which spreads quickly after he performs a concert.
If this wasn't bad enough, a cult soon spreads under his influence, a cult where they worship 'The One' and its followers think they are blessed if they get the disease.
This is a good read, like watching one of the better episodes, and expands on the character of Starbuck as she becomes involved with Peter Attis. This causes mixed emotions between her and Apollo - and foreshadows what will happen with those two later on in the series. The only thing that might not tie in with the series are flashbacks in which Starbuck is domestically abused by her father, when in the last season of the series it was revealed her mother is the one who hurt her. This is a small gripe, though.
Pick this book up if you're a fan of the series. It is better than THE CYLONS' SECRET.
