This graphic novel is a direct continuation of the original three season BIONIC WOMAN television series. When the story begins Jamie Sommers is in the midst of an undercover mission. Then it's time for some slight upgrade of her bionics from Dr Rudy Wells. Now, the has a wireless comm-link in her ear so she can talk to the people at OSI without a walkie-talkie (remember, this is a decade and a half before cell phones). She's sent on a mission by Oscar Goldman to retrieve a mysterious satellite that's crashed in the desert and it's there she encounters General Morales, a guy who has a secret agenda. In fact, after she demonstrates her super-human abilities by hanging off of a helicopter, he kidnaps her. When she awakens she's in a strange town. She has no idea where she's at.
Back in Washington D.C Oscar finds out that General Morales has been missing for six weeks and is presumed a deserter. And now Jamie is missing, which freaks him out. Meanwhile, Jamie meets some of the town residents, who seem to know who she is. The town is called North Eden and its mayor is Morales. He envisions this town as a model community. Well, it's not quite what you think-and it's a surprise when Jamie discovers she's not the only bionic being there...
This book is faithful to the series, though I wish, in the artwork, there was more a resemblance to the actors (guess they don't have the rights to the actors' likenesses). However, the comic format allows for a "big budget"-there's things here that would be impossible to do on a 70's television show. So if you're a fan of the series this will not disappoint. Recommended.
