This graphic novel kept me hooked.
A young Asian-American named Soo goes to a rural island off the East Coast with her boyfriend, Tyler. His parents live there and it's where he grew up. Unfortunately, while they are up in the family's cabin, there's an earth tremor and a black gas escapes, turning everyone who is exposed to it into a raving lunatic/zombie. They start oozing black stuff from their eyes. Granted, these zombies are "alive" and more along the lines of those in 28 DAYS LATER, but effective nonetheless.
The couple escape the island and go to the mainland, but the wind was blowing in that directing and has contaminated the city. Then things go in an unexpected direction for our heroine...
