BLACK MAGIC WOMAN is the first in a series of supernatural thrillers featuring paranormal investigators Libby Chastain, a witch, and Quincey Morris, descendent of one of the guys who killed Dracula.
Quincey goes to the aid of a suburban family, the LaRues, that is cursed. This curse originates back to the Salem Witch Trials and in order to stop it, they have to find the dark witch who is the source. She tries to stop them in a variety of ways, from provoking others to attack them to making Quincey's number one fear a terrifying reality...
There's also another, parallel story, concerning a South African detective named Van Dreenan, working with the FBI to track down Cecelia Mbwa, who is wanted for killing children (and for killing his own daughter) for her dark rituals. It turns out that Cecelia is working for the Salem Witch and that the detective knows Libby. Eventually, the two stories converge in a satisfying ending.
BLACK MAGIC WOMAN is a fun book loaded with interesting characters and harrowing situations. Recommended.
