This one shot, which features her second boyfriend, Riley Finn, ties in with the end of the Season Eight comic book run. It begins with Riley and his wife living out in the country, on a farm, and it looks like they've given up the secret agent biz. But when Riley gets a message that Buffy needs his help he's reluctant to help, though his wife encourages him to go. Meanwhile, Angel is being directed by Whistler (who we'd seen in the first season of the TV series ANGEL) to put events into place that will make Buffy her most powerful, though she'll be put through hoops and misery to make this happen.
Riley and his wife try to stop some nuclear missiles from mysteriously firing, to no avail, but they land in the ocean, circling an island. So they go there, meet a general who is already there, enter a dark cave and emerge to see an army. As with Angel, he has to decide "where his loyalty lies--with the girl or with the world".
I'm not quite sure why they decided to have this as a one-shot, as opposed to just making it an issue of the Season Eight series, other than that BUFFY isn't in it at all.
Still, I think it's probably necessary to pick up if you're in the midst of that story.
