Written/Illustrated by P. Craig Russell
This graphic novel adaptation of the Robert E. Howard Conan tale doesn't even compare to the Busiek/Nord CONAN interpretation. Russell's artwork is like a cross between Joe Kubert and Gil Kane and Conan seems far too civilized and clean-looking here. In fact, the illustrations of his face look too much the same from panel to panel. The monsters (and that is one of the things I like best about Conan adventures) that live underneath the temple look like rejects from WHERE THE WILD THINGS ROAM. If you're looking for Conan don't look here.
