This Conan adaptation from Dark Horse Comics is faithful to the Robert E. Howard stories. Cary Nord's artwork reminds me a lot of those Frazetta paintings which graced a lot of those Conan book covers in the 70's. It starts off with a seventeen year old Conan first venturing away from his land of Cimmeria, to explore. He encounters the Aesier and the Vanir, two viking-like groups of peple who are at war. He befriends the Aesier and travels with them, hearing their stories, bonding with some of the warriors. One of the Howard stories adapted is THE FROST GIANTS daughter in which he gets in trouble with some rather large creatures. Another tale has him and his comrades captured by the fabled Hyperborians, who are these jaded, world-weary immortals, which represent all that is bad and wasteful about 'modern civilization'.
