This hardcover graphic novel reprints the entire 70's-80's "Hunter" series from Warren's EERIE magazine. It's a seventies version of the Apocalypse, along the lines of Ralph Bakshi's WIZARS and the Charlton Heston movie OMEGA MAN. Demian Hunter, a lone warrior, wanders the nuclear wasteland, encountering mutant abominations, which he slays. It's revealed that he is a half breed, human looking but with yellow slitted eyes, and he wants to kill his mutant father, who had raped his mother all those years before. Eventually he encounters this leader of the mutants-and Demian is killed.
Then, the stories skip ahead a few hundreds years where the radioactive Earth has had time to recover. A new hunter, Karas, picks up the reigns and continues the fight for the planet along with an intelligent robot. The mutants have now turned to creatures called "Goblins". The stories now take more of a sword and sorcery edge, like the 70's Conan magazine.
Although this is now all very familiar territory, HUNTER is an interesting read with excellent black and white artwork. Recommended.
