This ENTERPRISE book brings a conclusion to The Romulan War. The Coalition of Planets, which included Vulcan, Tellar and Andoria, has disbanded, leaving Earth to face the Romulan threat alone. In the last season of the television show, The Romulans had devised technology that can remotely hijack starships--until Starfleet came up with a solution to overcome this. However, there is a rumor that they have devised new ships capable of reaching Warp 7. This means that they could easily pass the Starfleet ships and attack Earth.
Captain Archer has his old crew back, including Travis Mayweather, who had left Enterprise soon after the Kobayashi Maru incident years before. T'Pol is still his second in command, though she continually tries to persuade T'Pau of Vulcan for her world to join in the battle. And Trip Tucker, whose death was faked and who went undercover disguised as a Romulan, works from the inside to defeat this enemy.
The book spans about thirty-years time, which definitely concludes all of the events and sets the stage for the revamped JJ Abrams STAR TREK universe. It also brings to a satisfying ending, for fans, the T'Pol/Tucker vulcan/human romance. Recommended.
