This comic tie-in to the 2002 Christian Bale movie tells how the trainers of Gun Kata tried to use people with emotion to master the killing art, to perhaps make them a more effective weapon than someone emotionless who takes the full dose of the Prozium drug. They are keeping the trainees, called Grammaton Monks, on a mid level dose, which enables them to feel some emotion but enough of the drug to suppress the rest. To the trainer, it's too unpredictable and it worries him because fighting with emotion is too dangerous. The best student is a woman, Bai, and the others want to learn from her. She hopes that their skill will enable Libria to become a place of peace. When the experiment is over the authorities want to put them back on the full dose and they refuse. So they are banished beyond the walls of the State, to the ruins of the Nether. They encounter some humans, other people who were banished, who want to change things in Libria. So the trio returns to face their society with their full emotions. Who will win?
This story definitely fits into the events of the film and also adds a bit to the story it established. Recommended. From American Mythology comics.
