Writer Bill Warren brings us an excellent making-of book on Sam Raimi's EVIL DEAD. The book follows Raimi and company from childhood through college and then goes on to describe the creation of the super-8 film WITHIN THE WOODS, which was used to raise money for EVIL DEAD.Virtually everything you'd want to know about EVIL DEAD, from financing, casting, locations, shooting, post-production, and distribution is covered here. Not only is it inspiring for the indie filmmaker working today, it's also entertaining for the casual movie buff.EVIL DEAD 2 and ARMY OF DARKNESS are given their due as well, but not as extensively as the original film. Raimi's future directorial efforts also get praise, up to FOR THE LOVE OF THE GAME.Excellent rare photos, an awesome cover, and many interviews with Raimi collaborators (Bruce Campbell, Robert Tapert, Scott Spiegel, etc.)make this book well-rounded and fun to read. Check it out!
