The story begins in the ruins of a city, with Nox, Nocturnal Knight of Redemption, riding with former supervillain Red Reaper. They are on their way to Nox's old hideout, hoping there will be some technology they can salvage. On the way they are attacked by hideous, multi-eyed aliens and their robots. Throughout this Nox keeps on remembering "The old days", when he was a hero and fighting against the very man he's now partnered with. Least to say, Nox misses the past. They come across a "Husker", sort of a zombie-thing, feeding on a small girl, yet he still doesn't want to kill. He insists he's a "detective" and it makes him better to use his mind to solve problems, not kill. Red insists otherwise, saying it's a new world and he better adapt. What he decides to do seems to make him very happy...
This is an interesting premise--an alien invasion of Earth and the only human survivors are those with "super powers". It's also fun to see the "before" and "after" relationship of Nox and Red Reaper. Recommended.
