This one-shot comic, based on that great Frank Frazetta painting, is a disappointment. A lone Neanderthal Man is out hunting and is attacked by a sabretooth tiger. He surprisingly kills it with a crude weapon he has and starts to carry it back to his tribe. However, he sees something that makes him drop it and run, terrified, back to his people. He draws a picture of what he saw on the cave wall, then the men go out to see it in person--and it's a group of Cro-Magnons. Then, we see what's on the cave wall and its a picture of man evolving from ape to modern man. What, the Neanderthal's know their own evolution? Besides, it was recently discovered, through DNA, that Neanderthals were an offshoot, not a direct descendant of modern man.
Story aside, I thought the artwork was good.
