It's the near future and giant monsters have caused the apocalypse. Twenty years later there are a few surviving groups of humans and some of these humans worshipped the Kaiju as Gods. For years no one has seen any of the creatures. A group of teenagers decide to explore and come across a bunch of giant Mantis-like insects. These are in turn attacked by plants, which turns out to be the tendrils of Biolante. And this is also when Godzilla returns. A battle commences and attracts Mothra. It turns out that Godzilla wants to destroy Biolante, but the properties of that creature can heal the Earth. Hiroshi, a grandfather of one of the teenagers, recalls when he worked for the government and how they were psychically able to control the monsters-but instead of influencing them it unleashed their berserk fury and almost caused the end of the world. Now, with the reappearance of all the monsters a big threat emerges-the return of Destoroyah, which is far far larger than the King of the Monsters.This is a really cool "What if" Godzilla book. Highly recommended.
