In Russia, the giant pteranodon-like monster, Rodan, is causing havoc, while in Los Angeles Godzilla has decimated most of the city while battling the armadillo-looking Anguiras. The military proposes to drop a deadly gas bomb, which the President signs off on--but it backfires. The creatures are so big they're able to lift their heads above the poison gas. And thousands of people die as collateral damage. In Paris, France, Battra has made a cocoon on the Eiffel Tower and his two evil human assistants eagerly await his rebirth. Meanwhile, a lone soldier wearing a gas mask roams the wasteland left by Godzilla--and he comes across a young orphaned girl who has somehow managed to survive. He watches out for her and along the way encounter a giant spider. Godzilla makes his way across the Dakotas, then to Atlanta. It's here that the government unleashes its new weapon--Mecha-Godzilla. Of course, it malfunctions once it's damaged by the King of the Monsters and goes on a rampage of its own. And there's yet another monster that makes an appearance, erupting from a mountain in Asia. This is Ghidorah--and he and Godzilla clash, with much more destruction for all....
I like this IDW series, as it depicts a vicious Godzilla actually killing innocent bystanders because of his sheer size. It's better than the first volume and probably one of the better Godzilla comics out there.
