Written by Adam Rockoff One of the few books I've ever read that concentrates solely on the slasher film sub-genre of horror films, tracing its origins, rise to glory, darkest hour, and reemergence with the insight of a true fan. If you're a true fan, casual buff, or just want to learn more about slashers, then you need to own this book from McFarland and Company, Inc. I'd say required reading to say the least. The information here is presented in an entertaining way and the amount of facts and trivial knowledge found here is well worth the price. The films range from Halloween to Scream and most of them in between are also covered. The focus of the book highlights on the more popular slasher films that made the genre infamous. My one gripe is that not many of the obscure movies were covered as extensively; this can be done in part two I hope. You'll enjoy the behind the scenes info that comes with each film covered. The stories and facts are interesting and cool to hear about. This book was way overdue, like everything I've ever checked out from a library. Thankfully, the author presents it all as a real fan would and not in the condescending way that some have tried to in the past. It's not overly wordy, and just the right size to make a great read.
