Begins with the superhero team after a villain, Submline, who has stolen something called the Nephilim Fragment, which can rewrite the laws of physics. With it he wants to murder the Quantinuum--to change reality. Then, the action is interrupted when Hatch Groman wakes up. He was one of the superheroes. Now he's in a shitty apartment with a hangover, years later. He's late for work and goes into a bar for some "special coffee" when he hears that his old team, The Hypernaturals, have vanished. Meanwhile Creena Hersh (who used to be married to Hatch) is the Hypernatural's Media relations and is fielding questions. It looks like the team is gone, dead. But she and two new Hypernaturals, Shoal and Halfshell, who are the most likely candidates for new team members go to the planet where the team vanished and find it a wreck. And it seems as if the villain Sublime has something to do with it as his fingerprints are all over the place. The villain has also left a surprise for them--an assortment of rampaging monsters...
This has a LEGION OF SUPERHEROES feel to it with a good dose of THE BOYS grittiness thrown in. Recommended.
