Published by Leisure books, written by Edward Lee.This picks up six months after CITY INFERNAL and Cassie finds herself committed to a mental institution after her house burned down. Her father's attorneys think she may be the culprit but in reality it was a succubus sent by Satan who killed her father. In the town where the mental institution is located, demons start appearing as sections of Hell are temporarily transported & merge with those of Earth. The first few times this happens it's practice, but they're practicing in order transport where Cassie is being kept locked up. As an Etheress, one able to go into Hell as a living person, she has a great deal of power-and Satan wants to utilize this power for some sinister purpose. We eventually find out what his plan is-and it's quite a revenge on God if it succeeds. There's also an angel character that shows up, who tells Cassie vital information and warns her of danger. Yet each time the angel tells her something she's not supposed to, she's clawed over by a demon which inhabits her shadow. Yet if Satan can't get Cassie he can still get the power from the Etherean, her male couterpart. And this turns out to be a nerdy college freshman who's on the verge of suicide after he's humiliated by a beautiful woman he had a crush on.Cassie and the Angel go to Hell and try to find out what Satan's plan is-and when they do they must try to stop it from happening. I won't say what happens at the end but I think it rules out there being any more books about this character. I enjoyed INFERNAL ANGEL a bit more than the first book, as the stakes were higher, the characters more established and the gore quotient completely over the top.Available from Leisure books at www.dorchesterpub.com
