Author: Matthew CostelloThis new paperback is the 'official prequel novel to the Universal Pictures movie event', telling the story of just where that map of Skull Island came from that Carl Denham eventually purchases. This is the tale of Sam Braddock, a former navy deep sea diver who takes a job on a foreign pearl-diving boat. They accidently run into that mysterious place and encounter a few horrific creatures, as well as the legend of 'Kong'. We're also introduced to Denham's number one screenwriter, Jack Driscoll, who has a much higher ambition than writing these adventure tales, and also to Ann Darrow, an out-of-luck actress who takes a job in Atlantic City, diving a horse into the ocean. THE ISLAND OF THE SKULL is a quick, enjoyable read with a good story, and it piques your interest to see the upcoming movie.
